2023年12月に鹿児島で開催した「サーキュラーデザインウィーク CDW 2023」は、多くの方々の温かいサポートをいただき、無事に終了いたしました。ご参加いただいた皆様、およびローカルパートナーの皆様と実り多い時間を過ごすことができ、運営事務局一同、心より感謝しております。イベントの様子は、以下のショートムービー、ツアーブック、カンファレンス・プロシーディングスにまとめましたので、ぜひご覧ください。
Circular Design Week 2023 in Kagoshima last year in December was a huge success, thanks to the warm support of all those attended and supported the program. The organising team extends heartfelt thanks to the local partners for the enriching and fruitful time shared together. For those interested in a detailed account/ recap of the week, we have compiled the following resources for you: a project summary, conference proceedings, a tour report book, and an after movie.

🗣️ 今年のCDWは10月の台湾で開催！/
Join us in Taiwan this October for this year’s CDW!
さて、昨年のCDW’23のパネリストのお一人、Kevin Yangさんと彼が率いる5% Design Actionのメンバーとのコラボレーションの話がまとまり、今年度もCDWを開催する運びとなりました。開催地は台湾です。2024年10月10日（木）〜10月13日（日）に、「バイオリージョンの多元的なリアリティをデザインする（仮）」をテーマとして掲げる4日間のイベントを、台湾の嘉義および台北にて実施します。
まず、前半の二日間は台湾の嘉義と雲林で、その土地ならではの歴史や文化と紐づいた循環の取り組みを探索し、多様な研究者・実践者とローカルの人々による複数の知見を交差させる濃密な「Tour & Workshop」と、そこで交わされた会話を開く「Open Dialogue」を行います。そして後半の二日間は舞台を台北に移し、より多様な方々とともに台湾および国外の事例を検討しながら、新たな実践の手掛かりを模索する「Conference」を行います。
台湾の国内のみならず、アジア太平洋の国々から気鋭の研究者、実践者、そして関心のある人々が集い、それぞれの「Place＝土地」に根ざしたサーキュラーデザインを体験し、多様な視点から議論を交わすことで、今私たちが目指すべき持続可能な社会の解像度を高め、その実現に向けた協働への足がかりを築いていきたいと考えています。
なお、カンファレンスのパネリストには台湾や日本、オーストラリアをはじめとした、アジア・パシフィックの先駆的な研究者/デザイナー/実践者をお招きし、加えて海外からの一般参加者も一定数見込んでいますので、国内と海外の事例を比較したり、海外のネットワークを広げたりする絶好のチャンスとなっています。ぜひ参加をご検討ください！

We are happy to announce our collaboration with Kevin Yang, one of the panellists from CDW 2023, and his team from 5% Design Action. Together we will be co-organising CDW 2024 in Taiwan, under the provisional theme of ‘Designing Pluriversal Realities in Bioregions'. Spanning four days from October 10th (Thu) to October 13th (Sun), 2024, we will visit and explore several locations in Chiayi and Yunlin, and discuss our insights in Taipei.
The first two days will be spent in Chiayi and Yunlin, exploring circular initiatives deeply connected to the region's unique history and culture. This will include an in-depth ‘Tour & Workshop’, fostering interaction and knowledge exchange among diverse researchers, practitioners, and local residents. Additionally, an ‘open dialogue’ will be held to publicly share the conversations that took place, and open up discussions.
For the latter two days, the event will move to Taipei for a ‘conference,’ bringing together a diverse group of participants to examine case studies from Taiwan and abroad, to seek out insights for new practices.
The event aims to bring together emerging researchers, practitioners, and those interested from Taiwan and other Asia-Pacific countries to experience circular design rooted in each ‘place’, to discuss it from diverse perspectives, and develop a clearer view of the sustainable society that we should strive for. Through this process, we hope to build a foundation for collaborations that will bring these visions to reality.
This will be a great opportunity to compare domestic and international case studies and to expand your global network, as we will invite pioneering researchers/designers/practitioners from Taiwan, Japan, Australia and other Asia-Pacific countries as conference panellists, and anticipate a good number of international participants as well. We hope to see you there!
